This project migrated an existing WordPress website over to the Shopify platform. The original website had been bespoke coded and Sue needed more control over the content and visual design. In addition, the products for sale were not part of an e-commerce shop and had been added without that functionality.

The first step was to agree on a design and user experience. As a creative person, it was important that any solution would perfectly and effectively represent Sue's artwork and the area she lives and loves, Bude. This part of the process involved trying different designs, and creating workable sites for Sue to test the user experience. I enjoy working with artists, and I am always aware that their products are more than just merchandise, they are a part of them. As such, this phase of the project is more important than just building a shop.

Once the design was agreed, the existing content was migrated across to the Shopify platform. The challenge at this stage was to convert product-type content on WordPress into e-commerce-ready content for Shopify. Each product had to be individually edited before importing into the new website.

One objective of this project was to introduce the ability to sell prints to customers, as well as original artwork. Previously the sale of these two types of products had been separate, to simplify the user experience prints and originals were merged into the same shopping experience.

Sue has a high profile locally and was keen to extend that reach. Marketing work was completed throughout the project, as the Shopify site was being built. Less than three months after launch, the new website is ranked number one on Google for the search phrase "Cornwall seascapes".
