Block Design & DIY Shopify

"Absolutely – we at Block would highly recommend Business Think. The greatest benefit of working with Elliot was having expert support at every step; it felt like having a safety net. Rather than spending time Googling everything or making countless mistakes, we could simply jump on a quick call or troubleshoot over email. Having someone who knows the platform inside out saved us a huge amount of time and frustration.

Elliot made what could have been a daunting project feel simple and stress-free. What stood out most was his patience and his willingness to explain things clearly – nothing ever felt rushed or overly technical. I always felt comfortable asking questions without feeling silly. Plus, you learn a lot along the way, so you’re more confident managing the site moving forward. He’s helped us build a website that not only looks great but genuinely works for our business – our customers love it too." Tara & Madi at Block Design

Project Summary

Block Design had previously invested in a bespoke-coded Shopify website. However, they approached Business Think for help with altering the layout of items, as they were locked into paying for coded updates each time they wanted to make a change – no matter how small.

During our discussions, it became clear that it would be both easier and more cost-effective to remove the bespoke theme entirely. This would free them from ongoing development charges and provide greater functionality moving forward. We recommended moving to the DIY Shopify package, as the business wasn’t building a new site from scratch – it already had products and content within its database.

Tara asked Madi to lead the project on Block’s side. The most technically challenging aspect was handling the large number of swatches (colour choice icons) used across their products. These had previously been implemented using custom code. We reconfigured them using Shopify Metafields – the correct and future-proof method – ensuring the website would remain robust and easy to manage.
