The Professionals Coach (Dr. Maria Mastrantonio)
Upgrading a WordPress Website
“I really valued Elliot’s calm, considered and knowledgeable approach. From the very start, it was clear I was in good hands. He took great care to ensure I was clear about what I wanted from my website and how I wanted it to look and flow. As someone with very little knowledge in this area, having an expert guide me step by step and explain what would (and wouldn’t) be helpful in such a kind and respectful manner was incredibly important and valuable. Since the launch of my website and marketing, any questions I have had have been answered promptly, and I continue to feel very supported by Business Think."
"The results speak for themselves. I’ve already received comments on how professional my new website looks, and one client has specifically told me how easy it was to use. I’m confident it will continue to be a fantastic “shop window” for me and my services. The marketing advice Elliot has given has also been invaluable in helping me attract more clients.I would wholeheartedly recommend Elliot and Business Think to anyone needing a website or marketing support. Elliot is extremely knowledgeable – and honestly, what he doesn’t know is not worth knowing! He has answered all my questions with patience and clarity, and thanks to his support I am in a far stronger position with my business than before. He truly is a star!” - Dr. Maria Mastrantonio

The Challenge
This project involved upgrading a customer’s WordPress.com template solution to the full WordPress.org software. The fuller version of WordPress provides greater functionality, more design options, and stronger marketing benefits. These types of migration are not as straightforward as you might expect. Templates on the free .com platform are designed to make the build process simple, but that simplicity often hides technical complexities that must be resolved during migration.
Dr Maria wanted a more professional design, a faster and more responsive website, and a simpler way to manage her content and improve search engine optimisation (SEO). In short, a complete re-design was needed, both technically and visually.
Defining Objectives and User Experience
At the start of any website project, it is essential to revisit the business’s current objectives and sales goals. This user experience (UX) consultation is included in the package and is a critical part of the process.
Rather than immediately focusing on design, we begin with in-depth discussions about the target audience—their needs, challenges, and expectations—and the types of content and messaging that will resonate with them.
The outcome is a clear blueprint that includes:
- new page names
- content delivery sequences
- new functionality (where appropriate)
- a sharper focus on generating the desired response from visitors
Building the Website
With the blueprint in place, we assembled the navigation and page structure, and carefully reviewed all existing text, messaging, and imagery. Every stage of the user journey was examined and strengthened to ensure clarity and impact.

Wider Marketing Considerations
As often happens, our conversations extended beyond the website itself into wider marketing strategy. A website is rarely the entirety of a marketing plan and waiting passively to be discovered can waste valuable opportunities.
It is in every developer’s interest to help clients attract the right kind of traffic.
A website commonly acts as the converter of sales, rather than the finder of customers. With this in mind, we shared knowledge with Dr Maria on outreach methods to drive qualified visitors to her new site, empowering her to put these ideas into practice.
Thank you, Dr Maria, for trusting us to build your new website.
